Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

1. Is Stop Overthinking Without Therapy a replacement for therapy?

No.

The book is educational and practical. It is not therapy, diagnosis, or medical treatment, and it is not intended to replace professional care.

If you are experiencing significant distress, are in crisis, or have a diagnosed condition, professional support is appropriate.

2. Who is the book for?

It’s written for people who function well in everyday life but get caught in repetitive thought loops—replaying conversations, second-guessing decisions, anticipating problems, or lying awake while their mind keeps running.

It’s especially for people who want practical tools they can use in the moment rather than more theory about why they overthink.

3. How do the 17 Protocols work?

The 17 Neural Rewiring Protocols are short, practical exercises designed to interrupt different kinds of mental loops.

Some work with the way you picture or hear a thought. Others shift attention, body state, decision patterns, or unresolved mental “open tabs.”

You don’t need to use all 17 at once. The goal is to identify the kind of loop you’re in, choose the protocol that fits, and repeat it consistently enough that the new response becomes easier to access.

Repetition matters. The protocols are not meant to be used once and forgotten. They work best when you practice the ones that help you most until they become familiar, fast, and easier to reach under stress.

Stop Overthinking Without Therapy explains when to use each protocol, how to run it, and what to try if the first approach doesn’t work.

4. What are the Rewire Tools?

The Rewire Tools are companion resources for Stop Overthinking Without Therapy:

  • the 2 AM Triage Card
  • the Protocol Reference Card
  • the 30-Day Rewire Tracker

They’re designed to make the 17 Neural Rewiring Protocols easier to use in real life without having to flip back through the book every time you need one.

5. Do I need to have read the book to use the tools?

The 2 AM Triage Card can be useful on its own, but the Protocol Reference Card and 30-Day Rewire Tracker make much more sense with the full explanations in Stop Overthinking Without Therapy.

If you’re new to the system, start with the Triage Card.

6. How do I get the Rewire Tools?

Sign up through the reader form on this site and the tools will be sent to you by email.

You’ll also receive occasional updates from Lyle Holt about new books, tools, and related resources. You can unsubscribe anytime.

7. Do I have to leave a review to get the tools?

No.

The companion tools are available whether or not you leave a review.

If the book helped you and you choose to leave an honest Amazon review, it’s appreciated—but it is never required.

8. Do I need to use all 17 protocols?

No.

Think of the protocols as a toolkit. You may find that a handful become your regular go-to tools while others are useful only in certain situations.

The important part is not using every protocol. It’s finding the ones that work best for the loops you encounter most often and practicing them consistently.

9. Is there a companion Field Guide?

Yes. A companion Field Guide is in development for readers who want to go deeper into implementation, including how to combine and stack protocols for different kinds of loops.

Join the reader list if you’d like to hear when it’s available.

10. How often will Lyle email me?

Occasionally.

Emails may include new tools, practical ideas, book updates, and new-release news.

The goal is to be useful, not noisy.
